it's a regular habit of mine to say dumb things. hell, i wouldn't have a blog if i erased all my idiocy! and, actually, i feel that a blog should be a a place to "babble" about "dumb" things from time to time. i've argued before this before from a Vygotskian/developmental pov. but that's prob just me justifying not editing myself b/c i like to push that inviting lil orage "publish" button...

and about the blogroll: some people list blogs by the writers' real names; some people list them by blog title. i haven't looked at mine in a while, but i think i have a lil of both. whatev.
i agree w/ you about the dumb stuff. but i had written some things that were just career-unwise . . . bitching about my salary, etc. (and there you have it, so now i'm saying it . . . repression always fails. ha. ha.).

thanks for writing, Chris ;)

ah...the price one pays for arriving late. I missed it!
you didn't miss much, Jeff. just a little whining that i decided to retract. i need not have retracted it, i realize, as most of us have said/heard it before. here's a snippet: the worst moment was when one of our administrators sat me down and DREW (just for me) A CHART explaining why i would never make much more than i make now, no matter what i do or publish or whatever (and they are of course "very grateful" for that work, but, um, just teach, okay?) because we aren't ever going to pay you for that book or that professional identity or that film or that . . . you see how this goes. just no fun. is this happening elsewhere, i always wonder, or is this just a particular brand of local confusion about what a university is/does?

that is odd....since merit pay - where it exists - accounts for publishing, service, teaching each year.
"odd" it is, though there are other words . . .
